A blustery day
At 7:30 this morning, when we were both awake, we declined going to the allotment on the basis that we needed more sleep time. We didn’t sleep and, naturally, when we did make it down to the allotment at 9:30 it started raining. So it was a quick half hour down there, coping with the rain adn the weeds which seem to have emerged in the past few days with abandon.
Some signs of good stuff though. The first/second earlies are now fully heaped up and I caught site of my leeks (I’m sure that they weren’t there last time). Although the overwinted Broad Beans (Aquadulce) didn’t seem to come to much, the ones I put in a few weeks ago are doing something and the onions are starting to really look like onions.
Anyway, its been blowing a gale all day here, but it is dry again now. So do I dare go back for another half hour and maybe even (whisper it) plant some sweetcorn…?
